Gang Zheng

Gang Zheng invented porphysomes, organic nanoparticles composed entirely of porphyrin lipids that serve as multimodal theranostic agents combining photodynamic therapy, photothermal therapy, and photoacoustic imaging in a single platform. His activatable photosensitizer designs achieve tumor-specific PDT activation while minimizing skin photosensitivity. He leads clinical translation of nanoparticle-based PDT for head and neck and prostate cancers.
