Zachary Hunter is the foremost expert on CXCR4 mutations in WM, having characterized the spectrum of CXCR4 somatic mutations (modeled after WHIM syndrome germline mutations) and their role in modifying BTK inhibitor response. Patients with CXCR4 mutations show attenuated ibrutinib responses, and Hunter's work has driven the development of CXCR4-directed therapies in WM. His genomic analyses have comprehensively profiled WM mutation landscapes.
