Yutaka Yonemura

Yutaka Yonemura is Asia's foremost authority on peritoneal surface oncology with particular expertise in gastric cancer peritoneal metastases. He developed peritoneal lavage cytology assessment methods and has performed among the highest volumes of cytoreductive surgery for gastric cancer peritoneal metastases globally. He pioneered combination approaches of neoadjuvant systemic plus intraperitoneal chemotherapy for gastric peritoneal disease. His work has been instrumental in developing evidence-based approaches for this challenging oncologic problem in Asian patient populations.
