Ying Yuan developed the Bayesian Optimal Interval (BOIN) design that has become a widely adopted model-assisted dose finding method for phase I oncology trials. His work has extended BOIN to combinations, drug-combination-schedule finding, and dose optimization. His designs are now used globally by industry and academic sponsors.
