Yonghui Wu developed GatorTron, one of the largest clinical language models trained on over 90 billion words of clinical text including extensive oncology documentation. His work on cancer-specific named entity recognition and relation extraction has advanced automated abstraction of tumor characteristics from pathology reports. He has demonstrated that large clinical language models significantly improve cancer phenotyping accuracy.
