Karen Winkfield

Karen Winkfield leads the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance, bringing together an HBCU and an academic medical center to address health disparities and improve clinical trial diversity. Her research on barriers to clinical trial participation among Black cancer patients and strategies for community engagement has been foundational in the trial diversity movement. Her advocacy for structural changes in trial design, site selection, and community partnerships has influenced NCI and FDA diversity requirements.
