👥Biography 个人简介

William Nelson is a pioneer in cancer epigenetics who discovered GSTP1 CpG island hypermethylation as the most common epigenetic alteration in prostate cancer, occurring in over 90% of cases. His work established GSTP1 methylation as a diagnostic biomarker for prostate cancer and contributed to understanding the epigenetic field defect that predisposes prostate tissue to malignant transformation. He directs the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and continues to advance epigenetic cancer biology. His contributions span basic discovery through clinical translation.
