Christopher Wild served as Director of IARC and pioneered the concept of the exposome - the totality of environmental exposures from conception onwards. His research on aflatoxin exposure and liver cancer in developing countries established critical biomarker-based evidence for environmental carcinogenesis. Under his leadership, IARC classified numerous environmental agents and strengthened the scientific framework for evaluating carcinogenic hazards worldwide.
