Tim Waterboer leads the Infections and Cancer Epidemiology Division at DKFZ, where he has developed innovative multiplex serology platforms for detecting antibodies against cancer-associated viruses in large epidemiological studies. His high-throughput HPV serology methods have enabled population-level assessment of HPV exposure and vaccination effectiveness. His research identifying novel viral associations with cancer, including Merkel cell polyomavirus, has expanded the known catalog of oncogenic infections.
