Thomas Waldmann (deceased 2021) led the NCI Lymphoid Malignancies Branch for decades and contributed to IL-2 receptor biology and IL-15 as a cancer immunotherapy cytokine. He championed IL-15 superagonists as agents for NK and T cell activation in tumors. His work laid the foundation for modern cytokine-based cancer immunotherapy.
