Victor Velculescu

Victor Velculescu is a pioneer of ctDNA detection who conducted some of the earliest studies demonstrating that cell-free DNA in plasma carries tumor-derived mutations. His landmark studies established the feasibility of detecting cancer-associated mutations in blood using sensitive sequencing approaches. He has applied ctDNA analysis across multiple cancer types for early detection, treatment monitoring, and MRD assessment. His integrated genomics approaches examining both tumor and ctDNA have provided insights into tumor evolution and the biology of cancer dissemination.
