Jan Baptist Vermorken led the landmark EXTREME trial that established cetuximab plus platinum-fluorouracil as the standard of care for recurrent/metastatic HNSCC. His work has been foundational for HPV-negative head and neck cancer treatment. He is one of the most cited investigators in head and neck medical oncology.
