Vera Peters
MD
Radiation Oncologist (posthumous)
👥Biography 个人简介
Vera Peters at Princess Margaret demonstrated in 1958 that early-stage Hodgkin disease could be cured with radical radiotherapy — the first demonstration that a disseminated cancer could be cured with any treatment. Her data, initially met with skepticism, established the principle that cancer could be cured and motivated the development of combination chemotherapy and radiotherapy combinations that now cure >90% of early Hodgkin lymphoma patients. She also contributed to breast-conserving therapy.
