Victor Velculescu

Victor Velculescu is a pioneer in cancer genome sequencing and the development of cfDNA fragmentomics for non-invasive cancer detection. He co-developed the DELFI approach which analyzes genome-wide fragmentation patterns of cell-free DNA to detect multiple cancer types from a single blood draw with high sensitivity. His work demonstrated that aberrant nucleosome positioning in cancer cells creates characteristic fragmentation signatures detectable at very low tumor fractions, enabling early-stage cancer interception.
