Sjoerd van der Burg

Sjoerd van der Burg is a leading cancer vaccine immunologist at Leiden University Medical Center whose work has elucidated the immune mechanisms underlying successful therapeutic cancer vaccination and identified biomarkers predictive of vaccine response. His research on the immunological monitoring of cancer vaccine clinical trials has established standards for assessing vaccine-induced T cell responses. He has contributed to understanding how the tumor microenvironment can be modified to enhance cancer vaccine efficacy through combination strategies.
