Alexander van Oudenaarden

Alexander van Oudenaarden developed CEL-Seq, one of the foundational single-cell RNA sequencing technologies, and has applied single-cell approaches to understand cancer stem cell dynamics in intestinal and other cancers. His lineage tracing methods combined with single-cell sequencing have revealed the hierarchical organization of tumors and the identity of cancer-propagating cells. His work on single-cell technology development has continually pushed the boundaries of throughput and sensitivity for cancer cell profiling.
