Pieter Vader

Pieter Vader develops strategies for loading therapeutic cargo including siRNA, mRNA, and small molecule drugs into extracellular vesicles for targeted cancer therapy, engineering EV surface functionalization approaches that enable crossing of biological barriers including the blood-brain barrier for CNS tumor treatment. His research at UMC Utrecht has demonstrated efficient methods for incorporating nucleic acid therapeutics into EVs while maintaining their biological activity and has created EV-liposome hybrid nanoparticles that combine the advantages of both platforms. His work is advancing the pharmaceutical development of EV-based drug delivery systems for clinical cancer therapy.
