Thomas Bhatt specializes in the SHH subgroup of medulloblastoma, which is driven by Hedgehog pathway activation through PTCH1 mutations or SMO mutations. His research has characterized the molecular heterogeneity within SHH medulloblastoma and identified subgroups with distinct prognoses and therapeutic vulnerabilities. He has evaluated SMO inhibitor therapy in pediatric SHH medulloblastoma and examined mechanisms of primary resistance in infants. His translational work guides the design of molecularly informed treatment protocols for SHH medulloblastoma patients.
