Thomas Bhatt

Thomas Bhatt directs carbon ion therapy research at HIT Heidelberg, one of the world's premier heavy particle therapy centers. His clinical and research work focuses on the unique biological advantages of carbon ions for radioresistant tumors such as chordoma, skull base tumors, and head and neck adenocarcinomas. He has conducted prospective trials demonstrating superior local control with carbon ion therapy compared to photon-based approaches for selected tumor types. His physics and clinical research has advanced understanding of carbon ion radiobiology and treatment optimization.
