Tamara Tchkonia

Tamara Tchkonia co-discovered that senolytic drugs selectively eliminate senescent cells and has led mechanistic studies demonstrating how senescent adipose progenitor cells promote a pro-tumorigenic microenvironment through SASP factors. Her research on senescent cell heterogeneity has identified tissue-specific senolytic targets that may enable more selective approaches to cancer prevention. She is a co-investigator on multiple senolytic clinical trials for age-related diseases.
