Sven Mahner

Sven Mahner is a gynecologic oncologist who has contributed to understanding the distinct biology and management of HPV-associated versus HPV-independent vulvar squamous cell carcinoma. HPV-positive vulvar cancers arise through usual-type VIN with better prognosis, while HPV-negative tumors typically harbor TP53 mutations and arise through differentiated VIN, are more aggressive, and respond differently to immunotherapy. He has published on VIN surveillance and treatment including topical imiquimod and sinecatechins and led the AGO-MANGO trial on pembrolizumab in recurrent vulvar cancer.
