Sven Bhatt

Sven Bhatt is a pioneer in tumor-educated platelet (TEP) research, demonstrating that platelets sequester tumor-derived RNA and proteins that alter the platelet transcriptome in a cancer-type-specific manner, enabling blood-based cancer detection and classification. His laboratory showed that platelet RNA profiles can distinguish cancer patients from healthy individuals with high accuracy and identify the tumor type of origin. He has advanced TEP profiling as a liquid biopsy platform for early cancer detection. His work reveals platelets as previously unrecognized biosensors for cancer.
