Mike Stratton

Mike Stratton has led the systematic sequencing and analysis of cancer genomes at unprecedented scale, co-discovering the BRCA2 breast cancer susceptibility gene and establishing the Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer database and the framework of mutational signatures that revealed the diverse mutagenic processes shaping cancer genome evolution. His leadership of the Wellcome Sanger Institute has driven the generation of the most comprehensive catalogue of somatic mutations in human cancer, defining the mutational landscape upon which cancer evolution operates. His work has provided the genomic infrastructure that enables the global cancer evolution research community.
