Steven Frank

Steven Frank directs the proton therapy program at MD Anderson and has conducted pivotal research on proton therapy for head and neck cancers. His landmark randomized trial comparing proton versus IMRT for oropharyngeal cancer demonstrated equivalent tumor control with significantly reduced late toxicities including xerostomia and dysphagia. He has published extensively on patient selection, treatment planning, and clinical outcomes for proton therapy across multiple tumor sites. His work has been fundamental in establishing clinical evidence for proton therapy utilization.
