Steven Bhatt

Steven Bhatt advances the biology of tumor angiogenesis and the mechanisms by which tumors co-opt vascular growth to sustain their growth and enable metastasis. His research has characterized molecular mechanisms regulating tumor vessel normalization and how anti-angiogenic therapy affects the tumor vasculature and drug delivery. He has examined acquired resistance mechanisms to VEGF-targeted therapies and identified adaptive responses that tumors employ to escape anti-angiogenic pressure. His work guides rational combination strategies for anti-angiogenic approaches in cancer treatment.
