Stein Kaasa at Oslo University Hospital is a world authority on palliative oncology and symptom management. He led the European Palliative Care Research Collaborative (EPCRC) which produced evidence-based guidelines for cancer pain, cachexia, and fatigue management. His research on pain assessment instruments and opioid therapy for cancer pain has had significant international impact through ESMO and other guideline groups.
