Oliver Stegle has developed Bayesian statistical methods for analyzing single-cell multi-omics data that enable joint modeling of transcriptomic, epigenomic, and genetic variation in cancer cells. His computational approaches for spatial transcriptomics analysis have been critical for mapping the spatial architecture of tumor ecosystems. His work on clonal evolution from single-cell data has revealed how genetic and epigenetic heterogeneity co-evolve during cancer progression and treatment.
