Michael Sporn
MD
Oscar M. Cohn Professor of Pharmacology (historical chemoprevention pioneer)
👥Biography 个人简介
Michael Sporn coined the term chemoprevention in 1976 and established the conceptual framework that cancer can be prevented through pharmacological intervention during the premalignant phase. His work on retinoids and synthetic triterpenoids that activate the Nrf2 cytoprotective pathway has yielded multiple clinical chemoprevention agents. He is recognized as the father of cancer chemoprevention whose vision transformed cancer prevention from a behavioral to a pharmacological discipline.
