Dennis Slamon led the seminal work that established HER2 as a driver in breast cancer and translated this into the development of trastuzumab, transforming HER2-positive disease. He subsequently contributed to the development of CDK4/6 inhibitors in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. He remains a leader in breast cancer translational research at UCLA.
