M. Celeste Simon has defined non-redundant roles for HIF-1 and HIF-2 in tumor biology, including pro-oncogenic actions of HIF-2 in VHL-deficient renal cell carcinoma. Her lab has illuminated hypoxic metabolic reprogramming and lipid droplet biology in cancer. She leads cancer cell biology research at Penn.
