👥Biography 个人简介

Simon Gayther is a cancer geneticist who has contributed key evidence establishing the fallopian tube fimbriae as the site of origin for BRCA1-associated high-grade serous carcinoma, characterizing serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma (STIC) as the likely precursor lesion. His GWAS studies have identified dozens of germline susceptibility loci for ovarian cancer and he has contributed to multi-national Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium analyses. His work underpins the rationale for salpingectomy-based prevention in BRCA1 carriers and the reclassification of these tumors as fallopian-tube origin.
