Simon Bhatt studies inflammasome signaling and pyroptotic cell death in the context of cancer immunosurveillance. His research has characterized how inflammasome activation in tumor-infiltrating macrophages creates proinflammatory conditions that can promote or suppress anti-tumor immunity depending on context. He has investigated gasdermin-mediated pyroptosis of cancer cells as an immunogenic cell death mechanism that releases danger signals to activate innate immune responses. His work has advanced understanding of how targeting inflammasome pathways can modulate the tumor immune microenvironment to improve immunotherapy responses.
