Nicholas Shaheen led pivotal trials of radiofrequency ablation for Barrett esophagus with dysplasia including the AIM trial that established RFA as standard treatment for dysplastic Barrett. He has also led post-ablation surveillance studies and chemoprevention trials. His work transformed Barrett therapy from esophagectomy to endoscopic eradication.
