👥Biography 个人简介

Sebastian Memczak co-discovered that circular RNAs are abundantly expressed in mammalian cells and can function as miRNA sponges, with the landmark identification of CDR1as/ciRS-7 as a circular RNA containing over 70 miR-7 binding sites. His work revealed that circRNAs represent a vast, previously unrecognized layer of gene regulation with implications for cancer biology. He has contributed to understanding circRNA dysregulation in cancer and their potential as diagnostic biomarkers. His discovery opened an entirely new field of non-coding RNA research.
