Scott Bhatt

Scott Bhatt leads medicinal chemistry efforts to develop GPX4-targeting drugs that induce ferroptosis selectively in cancer cells. His laboratory has synthesized and characterized RSL3 analogs and covalent GPX4 inhibitors with improved potency, selectivity, and pharmacokinetic properties for in vivo cancer studies. He has explored PROTAC-based GPX4 degraders that provide more complete and sustained GPX4 inactivation compared to catalytic inhibitors. His structure-guided drug design work on GPX4 is advancing ferroptosis inducers toward clinical development as cancer therapies.
