Kathryn Schmitz is an exercise and cancer epidemiologist who led the American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Roundtable on cancer and developed exercise guidelines for survivors. Her PAL trial demonstrated that slowly progressive weight lifting is safe and reduces lymphedema risk in breast cancer survivors. She leads the Moving Through Cancer initiative advocating exercise as standard survivorship care.
