Karin Schilbach

Karin Schilbach developed gamma-delta T cell expansion and engineering strategies for pediatric cancer immunotherapy, demonstrating that zoledronate-activated Vgamma9Vdelta2 T cells effectively kill pediatric leukemia and sarcoma cells through both TCR-dependent and NKG2D-mediated mechanisms. Her work on combining gamma-delta T cells with bispecific antibodies enhanced their tumor targeting specificity while maintaining the MHC-independent cytotoxicity that prevents graft-versus-host disease risk. She leads clinical protocols for gamma-delta T cell therapy in relapsed pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
