Robert Scharpf

Robert Scharpf has developed critical statistical and bioinformatic methods for analyzing cell-free DNA fragmentation patterns that underpin the DELFI cancer detection framework. His work on computational approaches for extracting copy number alterations and fragmentation signatures from low-coverage whole-genome sequencing of plasma DNA has enabled cost-effective multi-cancer screening. His statistical models for distinguishing cancer-derived fragmentation patterns from normal background have been essential to achieving clinical-grade sensitivity and specificity.
