Axel Schambach

Axel Schambach is a leader in gene transfer technology for T cell engineering at Hannover Medical School, developing optimized viral and non-viral vectors for efficient delivery of therapeutic TCR transgenes into patient T cells. His work on lentiviral vector design has improved the safety and efficiency of TCR gene transfer for clinical applications, including the development of self-inactivating vectors that minimize insertional mutagenesis risk. He is pioneering transposon-based and mRNA-based non-viral approaches to TCR gene delivery that promise to reduce manufacturing costs and complexity.
