Toshiro Sato

Toshiro Sato co-developed the original intestinal organoid culture system and has pioneered CRISPR-based genome editing in organoids to model cancer progression from normal tissue. His laboratory has established high-throughput organoid drug screening platforms for colorectal cancer that can test hundreds of compounds against patient-matched tumor and normal organoids simultaneously. He leads the Japanese national organoid biobank initiative.
