Sarah Mitchell investigates exosome-mediated drug resistance mechanisms in breast cancer and has developed EV-based biomarkers for treatment monitoring. Her research revealed that breast cancer cells shed exosomes containing HER2 fragments that can neutralize HER2-targeting antibodies. She has studied how exosomal miRNAs mediate communication between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment. Her translational work aims to leverage exosome profiling for real-time treatment response assessment.
