Sant Bhatt has contributed extensively to the development and clinical evaluation of trabectedin and other cytotoxic agents in soft tissue sarcomas. His clinical research characterized the activity of trabectedin in leiomyosarcoma and myxoid liposarcoma through FUS-DDIT3 transcription factor inhibition. He has also studied mechanisms of resistance to anthracycline-based regimens in soft tissue sarcomas. His work informs current guidelines for chemotherapy selection in histology-specific sarcoma subtypes.
