Frederick Sanger received two Nobel Prizes in Chemistry: in 1958 for determining the amino acid sequence of insulin and in 1980 for developing DNA sequencing methodology. Sanger sequencing enabled the Human Genome Project and transformed cancer genetics. He is one of the most influential biochemists of the twentieth century.
