Sandra Demaria

Sandra Demaria has defined the molecular mechanisms by which radiation therapy primes anti-tumor immune responses, including cGAS-STING pathway activation by radiation-induced cytosolic DNA. Her collaborative work with Silvia Formenti has moved the abscopal effect from a clinical curiosity to a mechanistically understood and clinically exploitable phenomenon. She has published extensively on the optimal radiation dosing parameters for immune priming.
