👥Biography 个人简介

Samuel Hellman was a transformative figure in radiation oncology who conceptualized and popularized the oligometastatic hypothesis — the idea that some patients with limited metastatic disease may benefit from curative-intent local therapy. This seminal concept has driven development of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and oligometastasis-directed treatment strategies now widely practiced. He authored definitive textbooks on radiation oncology principles and made major contributions to breast-conserving surgery with radiation. His intellectual legacy continues to shape cancer management philosophy.
