Sandy Anderson
PhD
Chair of the Department of Integrated Mathematical Oncology
👥Biography 个人简介
Sandy Anderson has been a pioneer in developing hybrid discrete-continuous mathematical models that simulate tumor evolution at the individual cell level within a continuous microenvironment, revealing how spatial heterogeneity in nutrients, oxygen, and extracellular matrix drives evolutionary selection and phenotypic diversity within tumors. His research at Moffitt Cancer Center has produced influential models of tumor invasion, angiogenesis, and treatment response that capture the emergent evolutionary behavior arising from cell-cell and cell-environment interactions. His modeling framework has been essential for understanding why adaptive therapy works and how to optimize it.
