Russel Reiter
PhD
Professor of Cell Systems and Anatomy
👥Biography 个人简介
Russel Reiter is the world's most published researcher on melatonin and cancer, having demonstrated that melatonin exerts oncostatic effects through multiple mechanisms including direct free radical scavenging, immune modulation, anti-angiogenic activity, and pro-apoptotic signaling in cancer cells. His research established that melatonin enhances the efficacy and reduces the toxicity of conventional chemotherapy agents across multiple cancer types. He showed that light-at-night-mediated melatonin suppression accelerates tumor growth in breast cancer xenograft models. His extensive body of work has informed clinical trials combining melatonin with standard cancer therapies.
