Ruihua Xu

Ruihua Xu is the president of one of China's premier cancer centers and a leading GI oncologist who has contributed extensively to colorectal, gastric, esophageal, and hepatocellular carcinoma clinical research in Chinese populations. His research has advanced treatment standards for Chinese patients with GI malignancies through participation in global pivotal trials and leading China-specific investigations of novel therapeutics. He has contributed to understanding colorectal cancer molecular epidemiology in China, where rates and molecular characteristics differ from Western populations, and to implementing precision oncology approaches including comprehensive molecular profiling. His clinical leadership at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, one of the largest cancer centers in the world by patient volume, has influenced GI oncology practice across southern China and contributed to national cancer treatment guidelines.
