Robert Weinberg isolated the first human oncogene (RAS) and the first tumor suppressor gene (Rb), co-authored the seminal Hallmarks of Cancer framework, and defined the role of epithelial-mesenchymal transition in cancer metastasis. His work has shaped virtually every aspect of modern cancer biology. The Hallmarks of Cancer papers remain the most cited in cancer research history, providing the conceptual framework for the field.
