Robert Ferris directs the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and is a world leader in immunotherapy for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. He has contributed to pivotal trials including KEYNOTE-048 (pembrolizumab first-line HNSCC) and CheckMate 141 (nivolumab recurrent HNSCC). His laboratory work has characterized the tumor immune microenvironment in HPV+ and HPV- HNSCC and identified biomarkers predicting immunotherapy response. He is recognized for bridging immunological discovery with landmark clinical trial results in HNSCC.
